Home Assistant 2026.3: Vacuum Area Mapping, Energy Updates & 50+ New Integrations

Home Assistant 2026.3 is almost here. And while this release doesnโ€™t introduce massive core changes, it delivers something arguably more important: better integrations, improved stability, and meaningful quality-of-life upgrades.

Iโ€™ve been testing the beta, and hereโ€™s what you need to know.

Robot Vacuums Can Now Be Assigned to Areas

This is easily one of my favorite updates.

You can now map vacuum segments to Home Assistant areas. That means if your vacuum app defines rooms like living room, kitchen, hallway, etc., you can connect those directly to Home Assistant.

Currently supported:

  • Matter
  • Roborock
  • EcoVacs

Once mapped, youโ€™ll be able to say things like:
โ€œClean the living room.โ€

And your robot vacuum will know exactly what to do.

This is the kind of smart home integration that feels seamless.

Energy Dashboard Improvements

The Energy Dashboard received some small but welcome updates.

  • The โ€œPowerโ€ tab is now renamed to โ€œElectricityโ€
  • A new tile card shows current power usage
  • Tooltips now include both date and day

These are small changes, but they improve usability significantly.

Continue on Error (Now in the UI)

Previously only available in YAML, the โ€œContinue on Errorโ€ option is now accessible directly from the automation UI.

If an action fails, your automation doesnโ€™t have to stop anymore.

This is huge for complex automations and improves reliability across the board.

Android Wake Word Detection

If you have an old Android phone lying around, you can now turn it into a voice satellite.

Wake word detection is supported directly on Android devices.

Keep in mind:

  • The microphone must stay active
  • Battery usage will increase
  • You may want automations to disable it when away from home

Still, this is a fantastic way to reuse old hardware.

Proxmox Integration Improvements

Proxmox now supports sensor entities for:

  • CPU usage
  • Memory usage
  • Disk usage
  • Node and VM status

If youโ€™re running Home Assistant on Proxmox (like many of us do), this gives you deeper insight into your system health.

OneDrive for Business Backup Support

You can now use OneDrive for Business as a backup location.

Cloud backups are becoming increasingly important, and this adds another reliable option.

Reorganized Matter, Z-Wave, Zigbee & Bluetooth Settings

The settings pages for these protocols have been cleaned up and reorganized for better clarity.

Small change, better discoverability.

Python 3.14 Upgrade

Home Assistant now runs on Python 3.14.

That means performance improvements and a more future-proof foundation.

Faster is always better.

Final Thoughts

Home Assistant 2026.3 is not flashy โ€” but itโ€™s powerful.

This release strengthens integrations, improves automation reliability, and enhances smart home convenience.

My personal highlight?
Vacuum area mapping.

Whatโ€™s yours?
