When I first started building a smart home, I went the same route as many people: smart bulbs (like Philips Hue) in every room. The LED Bulb T2 looks like a normal E27 bulb: simple, clean, and well-built (aluminum + plastic). Nothing flashy, but it fits anywhere.
Matter (Thread) + Zigbee Connectivity
This bulb supports Zigbee and Thread (Matter):
- Zigbee: best if you want Aqara-exclusive features (requires hub/dongle)
- Thread (Matter): works directly with Matter platforms like Home Assistant, Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa

Aqara Light Switch H2 EU Review
Installation (Neutral / No-Neutral)
The H2 EU is excellent for European homes because it supports:
- Neutral wiring
- No-neutral wiring (great for older homes)
Note: Some features like energy monitoring and certain protections require a neutral wire. I tested it in no-neutral mode.
Zigbee + Thread (Matter)
Just like the bulb, it supports both:
- Zigbee: more features (but needs Aqara Hub)
- Thread (Matter): easier cross-platform setup without extra hub
Features that Matter
- Customizable buttons (top = wired light, bottom = wireless automations)
- Overheat & overload protection
- Optional energy monitoring (neutral required)
- Zigbee-only MARS tech (keeps smart lights “online”)
Everyday Use
Buttons feel solid, response is quick, and it’s reliable. Most importantly: it fixes the classic smart bulb problem because your physical switch is now part of your smart home system.

Choose Zigbee if you want:

Final Verdict
If you’re serious about smart lighting, the Aqara Light Switch H2 EU + Aqara LED Bulb T2 combo is a strong upgrade. It’s flexible (Zigbee or Matter), integrates well with Home Assistant, and—best of all—it solves the “taped switch” problem properly.
