Switchbot contacted me to review this little robot vacuum that they’ve just released. I have known Switchbot for quite a while now and created some reviews of other smart home products that they produced. This time, they released a vacuum robot cleaner, which is a new type of smart home product for them. Did they succeed in entering the robot vacuum cleaner market successfully? I will give you my opinion Decide for yourself after watching this review!

Pros and cons

Before we dive into the functionalities of the Switchbot K10+, I will show you a quick overview of the strengths and weaknesses of this robot vacuum:

The strengths are:

  • The diameter is 24.8 centimeters and the height is 9.2 centimeters.
  • It’s only 48dB loud.
  • It makes use of laser navigation.
  • It has a wiping option.
  • It comes with a suction station.
  • Because of its size, it can clean tight spots.
  • There’s no Hub needed for this vacuum robot.

The weaknesses are:

  • The wiping option is passive only.
  • It’s only suitable for small households.

The features of the Switchbot K10+

Size

Let’s dive right in and look at the design. The Switchbot K10+ features a sleek and compact design, allowing it to effortlessly glide under furniture and reach those hard-to-clean spots. This is a big advantage, especially for small households.

The unique selling point of the Switchbot K10+ is definitely that it’s smaller than other robot cleaners. This robot vacuum is 50% smaller than traditional ones and offers up to 90% higher cleaning efficiency.

Thanks to its more flexible and compact size, it can turn in a small radius to reach areas that traditional robotic vacuum cleaners can’t, such as under the table, corners of the room, under the sofa, under the bed, and other narrow spaces, thus providing a higher coverage rate.

With its small size and lightweight, K10+ is easier to move up and down, making it more suitable for users with stairs at home. I have used this robot for a couple of weeks now on my first floor to clean the bedrooms and I must say that it does the job well. What I really like is that this robot goes over door thresholds and other small obstacles without much effort. That is different with my Roborock S5 Max. The only disadvantage for me is that the legs of my bed are lower than 9.3 centimeters and even this mini-robot cannot go under my bed. Anyway, I can easily fix that by installing higher legs under my bed if I want to.

Navigation

The robot is equipped with laser navigation which allows the device to travel in straight paths. The robot vacuum cleaner also creates a detailed spatial map of the household. Obstacle avoidance is not included. When detecting objects, the SwitchBot K10+ relies on its infrared sensors and the bumper. You can add virtual walls and no cleaning zones to the map in the app, so that the robot vacuum cleaner does not clean those zones or cross the virtual walls.

Suction Power

This cleaning robot has a suction power of 2,500 Pascal, which is decent for this size. This is the same suction power as that of the Roborock S7. The small robot vacuum cleaner is also equipped with a combination brush consisting of bristles and rubber slats that are very easy to install. Next to this, the engine noise is really low. The volume is around 45 dB which is much quieter than its competitors. For instance, the Roborock S7’s volume is 67 dB.

Battery life

The Switchbot K10+ is equipped with a 3200 mAh battery that allows the vacuum robot to work for more than 100 minutes in standard mode. If the battery charge is low, the robot will automatically return to its charging station, recharge the battery, and then continue cleaning where it left off.

Dustbin

Next to that, it comes with its own 4-liter suction station, so you only need to empty it every 70 days. This extraction station is larger than the robot itself. After cleaning is completed, the small dust container of the K10+ is emptied by the suction station automatically. This makes a lot of noise, but you can schedule the garbage disposal in the app, bringing in more convenience and less noise.

Mopping

In addition to the vacuuming option, this robot also has a mopping option. But, it’s a bit limited in my opinion. The robot does not have a water container. Instead, It uses disposable cleaning pads, eliminating the hassle of regularly washing your mop. They can be replaced according to your cleaning needs, ensuring an always clean and hygienic mop. I haven’t really used this feature due to the fact that the cleaning pads dry out quite quickly and I can only mop a small portion of my entire first floor with one cleaning pad. Anyway, the possibility of mopping is there, so if you want to use it, you can for smaller rooms.

Third-party platforms

The Switchbot K10+ supports Alexa, Google Home, Siri, SmartThings, and If This Then That. And, you do not need to use a separate hub for this. Unfortunately, the Switchbot K10+ cannot be controlled by Home Assistant yet, but I hope this will be possible in the future, just like you can with the Roborock vacuum cleaners.

Price

The regular price of this Switchbot K10+ is $499.99. I added links in the description of the video that give you a discount, so the robot vacuum costs €399.99. The links are valid until the 27th of November.

Conclusion

With the K10+, SwitchBot is targeting small households that have little space and lots of tight spots. The SwitchBot K10+ is the ideal device for exactly such scenarios. For me, it works perfectly on my first floor and I think it will work very well for small apartments or dorm rooms. Switchbot will release the bigger Switchbot S10 vacuum robot in a couple of weeks, so if you have a big house, that one might be a better solution for you. I already talked to Switchbot about the S10 and will create a video review of it as well.
